Not the generic, uniform stuff you find in supermarkets all year round. I am referring to the real, vibrant and sometimes misshapen Fruit and Vegetables of the Home Grown variety.

You know, the varieties you toil over and cultivate for months at specific times throughout the year. Oh, those ones, I get it, but, why Baldi?
Because, I believe planting and tending to my Home Grown, Fruit and Vegetables, not only improves my awareness and life skills, allows for greater freedom of choice, promotes better connections with nature, but crucially, I feel helps to promote both my physical, and mental wellbeing.

Some advantages I find are, they tend to be a lot healthier and nutritious, fresher and better tasting, potentially cheaper, contain less chemicals and are more sustainable which I feel is better for my body, our planet and it's biodiversity.
I also find growing my own produce is very satisfying, a rewarding hobby and a life skill I feel we should all have, keeping me both mentally and physically fit.
However, a major downside I find, is, I am only able to eat certain Fruits, and Vegetables at set times during the year, unless, I freeze my "Home Produce".
I freeze my Tomatoes for use during the Winter months to make Soups, and bases for other healthy meals. Freezing tomatoes for winter soups is I believe a smart, cost-effective game-changer, but itโs not the only thing I cultivate in my garden.

Figs, Strawberries along with Aubergines. Delicious small, and Large Red Tomatoes, with some Big Yellow too, just as Mother Nature intended, when they are in season.

Have you grown you own Fruit and Vegetables? If not, why not?
