Japanese Gardens Inspiration
Situated in the grounds of Lumps Fort, Southsea, Hampshire, United Kingdom next to Southsea Rose Gardens, "Tsuru-Kou-En", "Portsmouth Japanese Gardens" is constructed in the vein of a Traditional Japanese Dry Garden.
Created by Takashi Sawano this inspirational Garden was opened in 2000 celebrating the link between Portsmouth, United Kingdom and Maizuru, Japan. Translating as "Crane Port Garden", the name cleverly combines elements from the two cities.
Walking through these motivational Gardens we find "Guzei", or "Red Bridge", which represents wisdom, transformation, and all that is sacred, and "The Lantern", or "Toro", representing the five Buddhist elements of Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Void amongst other inspiring elements from Japan.
Moving further into these inspired Gardens we find this historical stone from "Tanabe Castle" built at the end of the 16th Century, and given to Portsmouth further cementing the link between the two cities.
Progressing on, we are greeted with a sort of figure-of-eight-like shape enclosed by stones, allowing you to discover a covered seating area where you are able to reflect, think and relax in nature's inspirational surroundings.
